Packaging EPR threshold checker

Pick a country and enter how many kilograms of packaging per material you place on its market in a year. You see which threshold you reach and what follows: the declaration of completeness in Germany, the Verpact fee in the Netherlands, the prevention plan in Spain, the flat-rate option in Austria.

None of these figures exempts you from registering. In Germany, Austria and Spain registration applies from the first package.

Questions

When do I need a declaration of completeness (VE) in Germany?

From 80,000 kg of glass, 50,000 kg of paper and cardboard or 30,000 kg of lightweight packaging in a calendar year. If one fraction reaches its figure, the audited VE for the prior year is due by 15 May. The ZSVR or a state authority can also require one below that.

Below these figures, do I not have to register?

You still do. The thresholds only decide the VE, a fee or a plan. In Germany you register in LUCID from the first package.

Does PPWR have a small-quantity exemption?

Not an exemption. PPWR art. 44(8) gives producers under 10 tonnes a year in a member state simplified reporting. The microenterprise relief up to 1,000 kg covers only the art. 29 re-use targets.

Where do the figures come from?

From the same country data Assuro uses to build packaging declarations, with the legal source under each result. The checker and the app cannot disagree.

The figures from your store

In Assuro you build a packaging declaration from your Shopify order export. Assuro reads the export in your browser, multiplies units and parcels by your packaging profiles, and shows kilograms per material and country, checked against the same thresholds as here. Finalizing the declaration and exporting the CSV are on the paid plans.

Scanning is free. Writing data back into your Shopify products starts at $39 a month.
